What ever we do will not effect us???

Pakistan's PoliticsPosted by Saleem Chaudhry Thu, September 02, 2010 15:54:15

What ever we do will never affect us???

Most of us are fully engaged in cheating system we live inn and do not believe on or think over the consequences of what we are doing. When we get problems in return we put finger on system and bluntly say system is cheating us. Some times we blame on religion and heart people who believe on it and some times we believe on religion and blame on people who do not believe on it. Every one knows what ever we do more or less influence our whole world society where our children and grand children benefit or not benefit and also our coming generations suffers from this.

If the world rulers could just think what they were doing and what consequences the life on earth would face; then the world might stood in a better position than it is today?

Our Pakistani political, religious leaders and bureaucrats are one of the worst in the world and they just try to safe themselves without thinking if the nation is safe; then how can they become safe??? The situation in Pakistan is reflecting to how incapable and failed our Pakistani rulers are? Pakistani nation is currently suffering from one of the worst human disaster when it already was living with malnutrition and poor medical support.

Here are some thoughts people have realised and expressed may help us to think better:-

Balochistan awaits flood relief, rehabilitation

Pakistan & PeoplePosted by Asad Khan Fri, August 27, 2010 19:15:14
By Asad Khan Betini

Kohlu, Barkhan, Musakhel, Jaffarabad, Dera Allah Yar, Gandakha, Jhal Magsi, Jewani tehsils and districts are prone to natural disasters, including endemic droughts, flooding and recurrent cyclones, regularly damaging local communities and giving setbacks to economic growth.

Balochistan is one of the poorest provinces of Pakistan. The food security situation has dramatically deteriorated and the risk of maternal and child mortality – linked to lack of access to and quality of services – and water and vectorborne diseases have increased.

Above all, in such an emergency, the most-neglected area is MNCH health facilities. Nutrition required for pregnant women and infants has become a major issue in such situations. Therefore, medical experts are proposing an intervention to bridge this gap, as nobody is currently providing the MNCH and nutrition services in the flooded areas.

Over the past decades, the pattern of floods across all continents has been changing, becoming more frequent, intense and unpredictable for local communities, particularly as issues of development and poverty have led more people to live in areas vulnerable to flooding. The lives and livelihood of many poor people are hardest hit by the floods. These people, often already vulnerable to other disasters and stresses such as HIV/AIDS, drought, food insecurity, cyclones and ongoing conflicts, have forced people to live in hazardous places, building their homes and growing their food on floodplains.

Humanitarian assistance would be essential to save the people in such rugged landscape areas. In Balochistan, more than 11 districts, including Zhob and Naseerabad divisions, had been affected by the floods. According to the provincial disaster management authority government, 30 people had reportedly died of floods, 98 injured 50 gone astray, meanwhile 350,000 acres of agricultural land had been destroyed.

There are still a lot of people who sank in Kohlu and Barkhan districts, but not reported in government surveys yet, 250 kilometres of national highways had been washed away, and 20,000 houses had been collapsed in 11 districts of Balochistan, including Zhob city, the floods have affected 2,548 villages, 22,740 families have been internally displaced.

Meanwhile, extreme damages have been reported in Zhob district as several villages had been washed away, including Viala Mir Baz, Viala Sherak, Naughozaki, Akozai, Spura, Hassanzai, Branj Gazarghun, Takari, Khozakzai, Narezai, Shern, Zama, Mir Ali Khel and Thana Mir Ali. In these villages, 18,786 people had been affected, among which 8,711 were women and children.

The high level of water in the floods had passed these villagers after 80 years, causing severe damages to the protection spurs, meanwhile gardens, water-supply lines, irrigation system and water channels ad been entirely smashed. Hundreds of people were trapped in some villages and were seeking rescue operations, thousands of trees in the villages had washed away and the national highway leading towards Alkozai village had been destroyed.

But the elected representatives were busy submitting proposals for losses in their areas only, while people were still trapped and seeking help for evacuation and rescue operations. These representative MPAs had not even visited the flood-hit areas of their districts concerned from where they had been elected. The people have started suffering from psychological ailments due to the unjustifiable distribution of food among the affectees. On the other hand, gastroenteritis has killed more than 11 people in Balochistan, including women and children, but the provincial Health Department has devised no plan so far to stop such epidemic diseases throughout Balochistan.

The politicians have been busy in hatching conspiracies against each other, but the issue of flood is left ignored. Now is the time to support our brothers and sisters, but unfortunately the elected representatives have left the masses in the lurch.

The Institute of Medicine’s Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events serves to foster dialogue among stakeholders and provide ongoing opportunities to discuss and confront issues of mutual interest and concern. In Muslim Countries of Middle East & In Pakistan, there is no well organised system to help Children elderly people. In Europe Study Circle “ Ilmo-Amal” has organised 200 Doctors, Nurses and Paramedicis. Dr. Iqbal MD arranges courses in England, Spain, and in Canada every year for learning people how to help specially children and elderly people. The Forum provides a neutral venue for broad ranging policy discussions that serve to facilitate coordination and cooperation among the public and private stakeholders in developing and enhancing the nation’s medical and public health preparedness. More specifically, the Forum: provides a catalyst for voluntary public/private collaboration on topics where there is synergy among potential partners; helps define the scope of the field and thus sets the stage for future policy action; brings ongoing attention and visibility to important preparedness issues; explores new approaches for resolving problem areas; and elevates the general understanding and visibility of medical and public health preparedness in the broader research, public policy, and other appropriate communities.

The Forum is self-governing, i.e., the Forum membership identifies the topics that it wishes to address, and with assistance from staff, develops meeting agendas and identifies workshop topics. As a result, topics span a broad range of issues in research, policy, and practice. Initial attention is being given to the following broad topic areas: medical surge capacity, disaster preparedness training, communication and distribution, psychological and community resilience, and research and evaluation. If you want to participate then Please contact : Doctoriqbal@hotmail.com

Health care professionals and emergency preparedness planners need training to care for the specific needs of older persons during times of disaster.Center on Aging is one of six geriatric centers across the nation selected by the Health and Human Services to provide elder disaster care training for frontline caregivers including geriatricians and rehabilitation specialists. This Geriatric Emergency Preparedness and Response training prepares them to respond to the needs of frail elders during a disaster, whether it is natural in origin or human-caused.
Elderly persons who are frail are particularly vulnerable to harm because they lack the lower limb strength to perform simple tasks such as getting out of a chair quickly or without assistance. About half of those over the age of 85 in nursing homes suffer from some sort of cognitive impairment, and may have trouble following instructions and understanding what is happening around them.
"Not enough health care professionals and emergency planners fully appreciate this increased vulnerability from certain age-related changes," said Roush, who is also the chair of the Association of Schools of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control Vulnerable Populations Collaboration Group on Frail Elders, a committee created to write guidelines for training programs.According to Roush, disaster stress is a normal response to abnormal events. The exposure level and proximity to a disaster determine behavioral changes such as fear of darkness, agitation and sleep disruption.
For some elders, post-traumatic stress disorder can manifest six to 18 months after the incident. Because of this, health care providers should offer psychological first aid to help affected elders feel safe again. It is important to immediately connect to restorative resources such as ensuring safe shelter, food and potable drinking water.
Emergency preparedness planners should also know what to expect. The curriculum developed by Roush and his colleagues shows them how to make evacuation areas such as school gymnasiums more accommodating to the needs of older persons – e.g., cots that are higher off the floor than usual to accommodate ease of getting onto and rising off them, adequate lighting and signs with larger print for night time trips to bathrooms, calendars and clocks for orientation to date and time. Pets, dentures and medications are three things that cannot be forgotten during an evacuation since many will not leave their homes without these items. And the consideration of "sheltering in place" vs.. evacuation is emphasized as the first important decision to be made."We have to take an all-hazards approach and assume the worst case scenario," said Roush.Adopting the pre-event mode mindset prepares caregivers for a disaster, and debriefing after a disaster allows for improved care during future events

Early response key in caring for disabled during disasters
Essential lessons learned during the response to eart quaks/Hurricanes included the need for physical medicine and rehabilitation professionals as early responders and the importance of promoting patient advocacy, say experts in a report that appears in the Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
"Physicians have had the feeling that rehabilitation services aren't needed until two to three weeks after a disaster hits, but we should be one of the first specialties on the scene," says Dr. Faye Chou Tan, associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at BCM and lead author of the study. "We found that more people than previously thought needed rehabilitative care within the first week of arriving at the Astrodome."
The physically disabled are at a further disadvantage during disasters because of the underestimation of disability-specific supplies, medications and medical equipment such as wheelchairs.
The majority of the evacuees from the catastrophic area who were treated for rehabilitative conditions at the Astrodome were middle-aged and suffered most frequently from swollen feet and legs, leg pain and cramps, headaches and neck and back pain.
The study helped physicians identify which conditions were the most common and what supplies could be collected in advance in preparation for future disasters.
Preparing disabled patients to advocate for themselves during a disaster is also crucial, said Dr. Donna Bloodworth, associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at BCM and co-author of the study.
"Patients should be aware of their diagnoses, what medications they are taking and how to contact their doctor," she said.
Those with special health care needs can dial 2-1-1 if they are in an evacuation zone during a disaster and need transportation to a shelter.
Bloodworth said physicians should speak to disabled patients each year about their medications. Patients should ask their doctors about early prescription refills if they are anticipating a disaster, and have a week's worth of supplies when evacuating.
Both study authors were able to apply lessons learned at the Astrodome within weeks when Hurricane Rita was set to hit Houston. They ensured that their patients evacuated with refills and all necessary information and now have a call schedule ready for the future.
Tan and Bloodworth recommend that healthcare providers be ready to hit the ground running during a disaster. "All physicians' skills are invaluable during a disaster," says Bloodworth.

But Craving for Peace Only . . . Quetta Diary

Pakistan & PeoplePosted by Asad Khan Sun, July 25, 2010 19:05:19

( Mazhar Iqbal's Exclusive )

Written By Asad Khan Betini

Quetta City along with Hub, Nushki, Chagai, Awaran, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Panjgur, Khuzdar ware sparked with protests after assassination of Secretary General of Baloch National Party Habib Jalib Advocate, It has become a common practice in the provincial capital when unknown assailants in the red day light target people to death, Violence has been continued from decades with blackmailing other Urdu speaking settlers in Quetta which forced them to leave Balochistan province including educationists.

Killings of a Baloch leader and renowned advocate Habib Jalib’s murder once again receded Baloch movements in Balochistan for recovery of the missing persons, even his death shocked Baloch’ other groups for the reason that Jalib was playing a key role in Balochistan politics over recovery of the missing persons and provincial autonomy, being a former senator he played all his political skills to support Baloch National Party on international echelon.

CCPO Quetta Ghulam Shabbir said in his press conference that Police had already warned him to hire guards to protect himself but Habib Jalib was over confident as a result he was killed, Habib Jalib survived many times prior to this attempt but unfortunately miscreants achieved their objective this time by targeting him., on the other hand Jalib’s relatives and party workers claimed that Pakistan’s secret agencies were involved in attacks but no other. Meanwhile Police arrested more than ten suspects in recently conducted search operations, but no clue of the suspect has been found in this regard.

Acting President Balochistan National Party (Mengal) BNP M Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini said that Baloch’ would pursue their mission, He told this correspondent that “we want world powers to take interest in Balochistan and help us get rid of Pakistan, our mission couldn’t be pushed back by picking our party activists” Jamaldini added it. He said that recovery of the missing persons was one of their core objectives, but their voice & rights were being dejected and crunched through such unlawful tactics, he appealed all the human rights activists to look into the pity condition of the Baloch’ masses. Jalib’s unabated efforts for the party would not be forgotten, He added this.

40 days of mourning call was given by BNP though out Balochistan, University of Balochistan and all other educational institutions in Balochistan remained closed for three days until the return of normalcy in province, study schedule both in private & government institutions, students and educationists have totally been distorted with the current turmoil in Balochistan, a psychiatrist doctor of Bolan Medical Complex added that post syndrome patience have been increased up to 40 % in Quetta city, many of the patients are students as they are feeling panic attack due to flashpoint, bomb blasting, target killings and other uncontrolled law & order in the province, they couldn’t be able to continue education in such condition, doctor said.

After assassination of Habib Jalib, Quetta’s condition has once gone into vandalism, business has flopped in Quetta, citizen have forgot chanting for price hike control and load shedding, but craving for peace only.

An open letter to CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

Pakistan & PeoplePosted by Saleem Chaudhary Tue, July 20, 2010 09:34:49

An Open Letter To Mian Shahbaz Sharif

(Chief Minister Punjab)

I have no doubt about your sincere Pakistan loving statements. I am 65, never committed crime, worked hard in Norway to earn & establish my self. I built a house in Model Town Extension Lahore in 1988 so that my children could visit, watch & learn about there fader’s land Punjab, Pakistan but a dirty incident upset mine & my family’s life and our dreams broken into pieces.

I would like to remind you my request delivered to you by the then chief secretary in august 2008 where I explained the chief secretary about my abduction, illegally occupation of my millions property in Model Town Ext. Lahore, injustice with me and discharging of the FIR No. 463/07FT, Lahore by the corrupt police officers. I got your secretary’s phone who told me that my complaint is received by you and will be taken seriously. Your deputy secretary who asked me to deliver all the relevant documents & promised me to provide justice in this matter but soon later the file was closed & the question is why?

Later my kidnappers accompanying several gunmen broke the outer door, attacked on my house, seriously injured, scared women in the house and threatened to kill if I do not stop approaching to you.

I was refused by the local police to register my complaints (FIR) against the attackers (my kidnappers) and their gunmen; instead, police arrested me and closed me in a cell. Next day, my family delivered a complaint along with the reports of medical test to their injuries, from hospital. An FIR was never registered by the local police even requested to higher authorities & the medical certificate was disappeared from the police file.

My kidnappers have registered another FIR against me through a criminal woman wanted by the Karachi police & police broke into my house, arrested me in the middle of the night like a criminal.

I, because of my residence in Norway have to come back to Norway. Kidnappers in my absence illegally occupied my house by kidnapping two teenagers who were at home at this moment and left them later outside the city. I complained about this incidence & illegally occupation of my property by my kidnappers to the higher authorities but in no vane.

I would like to ask my dear Mian Shahbaz Sharif to pls. explain it to all the overseas Pakistanis to how can they trust you & be interested into any of their investments in Punjab if you can not watch and control your own regime?

I would request you to pls. make an enquiry about; why your own deputy secretary did not respect your order?

Why my kidnapping file was closed under your administration & who is behind this?

Why my kidnappers still occupying my property illegally?

Why can’t those criminals be arrested & punished?

Why police refused to register an FIR against criminals who attacked my house & injured women?

How medical reports disappeared from the police files?

Every one knows kidnapping of overseas Pakistanis, illegally occupation of their properties & businesses are very serious matters & ignoring such a drastic terrorism is not in a favour of Pakistan at all.

Punjab & the Central government have no right to rule the country if they can not provide protection to the Pakistani people. Saleem A. Chaudhary e-mail: asranorway@hotmail.no

Madaras to draw into main stream

Pakistan & IslamPosted by Mazhar Iqbal Fri, July 16, 2010 00:18:29
The Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Govt. of Pakistan.
Islamabad.
Excellency,
aoa.

Madaras to draw into main stream
The media carries Excellency's views on expansion of 'Curriculum of Madaras'. No doubt this is the most important subject from that stand point and all must support this in our own 'National Interest'. The students of Madaras are a 'National Asset' and need to be drawn into main stream of educatuion. Years have been spent to understand this issue and find a way forward. There could be several ways to achieve that.
However, the best may be through expansion of existing curriculum.
Major part of existing curriculum of 'Dars-e-Nizami' relates to 'Economic System of Islam'. But the focus right now is on other parts. By shifting the focus to ESI, these students will become eligible for jobs in existing economic enviornment, "and thus obey the system". They will also be absorbed by financial sector. This field will expand as economy moves away from 'Riba' at a speed as planned by State Bank of Pakistan.
The first batch of qualified 'students' can be in the market in less than 3 years, depending on the entry point qualification. The expanded curriculum will consist of subjects from within 'Islam'.Thus there may be no resistance from various 'tanzeems' or may be met by public reaction and they can thus be drawn in, on merit, to follow this under dual Control. The existing faculty in Madaras will continus as 'learned teachers and guides' in the new system but obey the rules of the system, made public first. Following is the Concept:-

THE CONCEPT
To sustain the Economic System of Islam, we need to build up proper Educational back up. This is the Concept on which we can work further.
Subjects:-
Arithmetic.
Trigonometry.
Geography.
Commercial Law of Islam.
Accounting.
Central Banking.
Zakat and Ushr.
Urdu.
Arabic.
Bait-al Mal.
Agri. economy.
Few more could be added.
Students:- To begin.
Passed Dars-e Nizami,B.Com, BBA, MBA, ICMA,CA.

Control:- Wifaq-ul-Madaras/University
The Punjab Prohibition of Private Money Lending Act 2007 ( below) can be activated towards this goal. Any new legislation etc may not be required. This may bring changes in the atmosphere faster than many may guess.
Request a formal hearing to explain any points that Excellency may require.
Respects and Regards.
Farooq I.A.

Media playing a strategic roll in Pakistan.

Pakistan's PoliticsPosted by Saleem Chaudhary Fri, July 09, 2010 16:25:41

Media is playing a strategic roll in Pakistan now days. Thanks to media which is only a source in Pakistan who can deliver the truth about Pakistani rulers & bureaucrats to the Pakistanis & the people world over. Earlier in time media was controlled by the few people in Pakistan who were dictating everything in Pakistan but now can I see a big change. I’m very confident that media is going to change the mindset of Pakistani rulers, bureaucrats specially law enforcement authorities, advocates, judges & responsible from the other sectors by pointing out the corrupt & criminals hiding in the governments both provincials & the central & private sectors; and the Pakistani people would love it. We need a new Pakistan were cruelty and crime is hated and should be a 0% tolerance of such a behaviour in Pakistan. I hope there are people in media who understand; that this is the only way to change Pakistan into a most peaceful country on the planet. Pakistan is placed into a very strategic area in Asia where the powerful countries are showing their interests. Pakistan can only achieve its importance if changing the mindset of Pakistani people but first of all we need to clean corruption & crime from the national & province assemblies, departments and specially law enforcement authorities also private sectors like advocates. There are a lot of corrupt advocates (of them may be many with false degrees) who are playing double standard with Pakistani people who cooperate with criminals and making Pakistan a dirty place for people who want to live a gentle life. I am very afraid also some people from media are corrupt who help criminals and therefore media must also be cleaned from these corrupt and criminals. Saleem Chaudhary. saleemchaudhary@hotmail.co.uk
